KORN and Deftones Deliver Epic Performances on Last Leg of West Coast Family Values Tour

Deftones played a new track, Hole In The Earth, off their upcoming full length EP, Saturday Night Wrist, due out October 31.   The album is produced by Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd, Jane's Addiction) and is being called by Deftone's frontman, Chino Moreno as "...one of the most diverse records that we did." What the show lacked in stage lighting and props was more than made up for with pure and raw musicianship and passion.  The show might also have been the loudest set Sacvibe has experienced with thundering drums by Abe Cunningham and wicked vocals by both Chino and bassist, Chi Cheng.  Unfortunately, the blaring mixing overpowered most of Chino's voice, save for the delicate sounds of  Change (In The House of Flies). KORN's Jonathan Davis Drops Concert Ticket Prices "Let's face it, ticket prices suck... Kids shouldn't be shut out of concerts. We wanted to see if we could do something about it, and our new deal gives us a chance to give something back." - Jonathan Davis - KORN. When KORN took the stage, Jonathan Davis thanked his fans for sending email to him while he lay in a hospital bed near death earlier this summer in Europe. He proceeded to deliver an incredible performance dousing any doubts about his recovery.  Towards the end of the show, Davis brought Chino out on the stage and performed Ice Cube's Wicked - an old school song they used to perform back in the day. Late in the show, KORN performed an acoustic version of Hollow Life - from the middle of the seats between the VIP and the PIT areas next to the soundboard.  Around 11 O'clock, Korn exited stage left, fans banged on seats.  They returned for another 15 minute performance that included  Twisted Transistor, Y'all Want A Single and  Blind.  Best Seats In The House Although field tickets were only ten bucks, a rarity at any concert with a national act like Korn, let alone two with the Deftones, don't be fooled and think that's where all the broke homies kick it.  Sacvibe spotted Exodus' bass player, Jack Gibson up there - okay, we saw him backstage and walked up to the field with "Jack-O-Lantern," an old nickname given to him because of his carrot bright red hair. "Dude, I have an extra ticket, I'm like in front of the VIP area just above the pit," if you wanna go down there later," I offered.  Jack is not only an old friend from the '80s, not only the bass for Exodus, but he's also Chi Cheng's brother-in-law. "Naw, I like it up here better.  My mom is down there (he points to section 102), I'll be down there later." Now there are some family values.  You may contact the writer Che@sacvibe.com
