Urija Faber cs James Pulver at ARCO Arena June 1Local "California Kid" Faber Says He's Not Worried
Number One WEC Featherweight Champ Defends Title June 1 at ARCO Arena: tix

Most fighters didn't go to college let alone become NCAA champs; Urija Faber is not most fighters.  Graduating from UC Davis where he was an NCAA national championship wrestler, Faber went on to open Ultimate Fitness in downtown Sacramento; a gym dedicated to teaching and training fight techniques including boxing, Jiu Jistsu and Mixed Martial Arts.  He's also become the number one fighter in his division and his only loss came against a man who is now fighting for the UFC.

Some say he's built a name by beating up weak-sauce fighters, others say he could even handle UFC's George St Peirre, but let's not get silly.  There's a 25 lb. weight differential between the two, but Urija is a bad ass.  He's bad enough to have only one loss to a fighter who since joined the ranks of the UFC.

Faber will have his hands full with James Pulver (Orange County) who is dropping weight to come down to Faber's class and squashes any talk about Faber only fighting wussies.  Pulver's "dirty boxing" style will be met head on by Faber's all-around jack-you-up style solid skills and quickness.  The two will be fighting for the World Featherweight Championship in the WEC and the winner will essentially go on to become the undisputed king in class.  More info and tix...

San Francisco's Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival Three Day Concert To Make History
Radiohead, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and Jack Johnson headline epic effort to pull of biggest show ever in NorCal

SoCal has Coachella and the freaks have Burning Man, and tucked between the two major events is the biggest concert festival to ever hit NorCal - "Outside Lands."

It's the kind of festival that Bill Graham would have organized, and in a way, he's probably playing a role from a faraway place.  After all, Bill Graham was really the first promoter to throw big shows at Golden Gate Park, and former CEO from Bill Graham Presents is Jeff Perloff - the man behind Another Planet.

When Bill Graham Presents was bought up by Clear Channel (Live Nation), the "old guard" left and started Another Planet and recently won the prestigious "Promoter of the Year" award by peers in Pollstar Magazine - the source for all things music.  For more information about Outside Lands, check out their website which lists the entire roster of talent with something for everyone.  And remember - pack it in, pack it out.  This will be a green event.
