Second Saturday is here again, tonight. With Spring temperatures and longer days stretching out, we guess we'll have at least 5,000 people out all over downtown. If you've never been, it's the largest unorganized event of the month held every Second Saturday all over town from Del Paso and Downtown thru Midtown and East Sacramento. Live music, art and sidewalk vendors turn J Street and K Street into a temporary Bezerkely style Telegraph Avenue. Have fun. Last summer, Sacramento had 10,000 strong out setting a one day record for the event. Cars are discouraged from coming thru town, go around. Trust me, it will take you 20 minutes to go 10 blocks in a car. Stay off I, J, K and Capitol for easier driving. Check out the nice work below for a good synopsis of Second Saturday... Disney's jump down the 3D rabbit hole has scored big at the box office beating even Oscar winning film, Avatar. $116 million to Avatar's $77 million for opening weekend. DMB, arguably the most commercially successful band of 2009, has announced a world tour supporting their platinum-certified, GRAMMY-nominated Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King. The tour hits Northern California for three nights including: The Sleeptrain in Marysville on August 27, August 25 in Concord and Shoreline on August 28. Three time GRAMMY nominee, Raphael Saadiq (Tony! Toni! Tone!), is supporting the tour. Raphael will also be performing at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver with India Arie. Raphael’s video for “Staying in Love” has been chosen as the iTunes Music Video of the Week and you can watch it here. The Eagles are one of those bands whom need no introduction (as if Dave Matthews Band did). A few months ago, Eagle's guitar player, Timothy B. Schmidt, played The Crest downtown to a packed house. He wrapped things up by saying, "I'm coming back to Sacramento with another band in April." The audience erupted with laughter and applause as this could only mean one thing, The Eagles would be here.
